How to log your meals on Mounjaro®

Log each meal when you eat it, note your protein, fluids and any symptoms, and review the record with your clinician. Mounjaro® (tirzepatide) is a GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist; its label says to use it as an adjunct to diet and exercise, and a food log shows what that looks like day to day. This is a record-keeping guide, not dosing or medical advice.

How to log meals on Mounjaro®

    1. Log when you eat. Take a photo or say what you ate right after the meal, while you still remember portions. Include drinks and snacks.
    2. Record protein. Check each meal against a daily protein target agreed with your clinician or dietitian. The calculator shows the range from a 2025 advisory.
    3. Note fluids. The Mounjaro® label links nausea, vomiting and diarrhea to dehydration, so a note of how much you drink helps you spot gaps.
    4. Write down symptoms. Add nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation or anything unusual next to the meal. Helsa does not track doses, so note your injection day in your own calendar if it helps.
    5. Review weekly and share. Look for patterns once a week and bring the record to appointments. Report symptoms that persist, and vomiting or diarrhea you cannot manage, to your clinician.

Talk to your prescriber, pharmacist or dietitian about your diet, protein, fluids and any symptoms. This page is not medical advice and does not give dosing recommendations.

    Protein on Mounjaro®

The Mounjaro® label gives no protein target. A 2025 joint advisory on GLP-1 therapy notes that 1.2–1.6 g/kg of body weight per day has been proposed during active weight reduction, which is 96–128 g for 80 kg. It also offers a fixed 80–120 g a day as an alternative. These are general figures, not a prescription.

Work out the range for your weight, then check it with your clinician or dietitian.

    What Mounjaro® is

Mounjaro® contains tirzepatide and is a GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist. Its FDA label lists these uses, as an adjunct to diet and exercise:

    • to improve blood sugar control in adults and children aged 10 and older with type 2 diabetes
    • to reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events in adults with type 2 diabetes who are at high risk for them

Zepbound® contains the same ingredient and is the version labeled for weight reduction.

    Safety facts from the label

    • Each label carries a boxed warning about thyroid C-cell tumors seen in rodents, and the medicines are contraindicated for people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2.
    • Each label reports postmarketing acute kidney injury, mostly in people who became dehydrated from nausea, vomiting or diarrhea, and tells prescribers to monitor kidney function when such reactions occur.
    • Each label says the medicine delays gastric emptying, and that pulmonary aspiration has been reported during general anesthesia or deep sedation, so tell any team doing a procedure that you take it.

The most common side effects in the Mounjaro® label are nausea, diarrhea, decreased appetite, vomiting, constipation, dyspepsia and abdominal pain. Read the full label and Medication Guide, and ask your pharmacist or prescriber about anything unclear.
