mySugr alternative: Helsa vs mySugr
mySugr is Roche's diabetes logbook for people with type 1, type 2 or gestational diabetes; the basic app is free, PRO is $4.99 a month, and it works best with Accu-Chek meters. Helsa is a different kind of app: an AI metabolic health coach for prediabetes, type 2 prevention and weight, so it suits people who want coaching on food, sleep, stress and lab results more than a detailed glucose logbook.

Pros and cons
Helsa
AI metabolic health coach app for blood sugar, weight and overall metabolic health that works without a CGM.
Pros
- No CGM or wearable needed to get started
- Holistic metabolic score that connects diet, sleep, stress, activity, body composition and blood markers
- Fast meal logging by photo or voice with AI nutrition analysis
- AI coach you can ask about meals, spikes and your blood test results

Frequently asked questions
Is mySugr being discontinued?
No. mySugr is still being developed, and Roche is moving users of its Accu-Chek SmartGuide CGM app into mySugr. Some features have been retired, though: FreeStyle Libre sync has ended and Pump Control was retired on June 29, 2026.
How much does mySugr PRO cost?
On the US App Store, mySugr PRO is $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year. Accu-Chek says PRO features are free while you pair a compatible Accu-Chek meter.
Does mySugr work with a CGM?
Partly. On iOS, mySugr can import Dexcom data through Apple Health, but it can't import FreeStyle Libre or Medtronic CGM data, and Dexcom import isn't supported on Android.
Can Helsa replace my diabetes logbook if I take insulin?
No. Helsa is an informational coaching app and isn't designed for insulin dosing. If you take insulin, keep using the logbook, meter or CGM your care team recommends; Helsa can sit alongside it for coaching on meals, sleep, stress and activity.
Which app is better for prediabetes?
For prediabetes, Helsa is the closer fit: it focuses on the daily habits and lab markers, such as A1C, that matter for preventing type 2 diabetes. mySugr is built mainly for people who already have diabetes and log their blood sugar readings.
